A Sad Friendly Reminder

Every once and a while we are reminded how fragile life can be. Yesterday, I received that reminder when news broke that LeRoi Moore, saxophonist for the Dave Matthews Band, passed away due to complications from his injuries susstained from an All Terrain Vehicle (ATV) accident on 30 June 2008. Béla Fleck and the Flecktones saxophonist Jeff Coffin has been standing in for Moore since the accident while the band has been on tour.
While on the way to work this morning, I popped in the band’s 1998 album, “Before These Crowded Streets.” It seems like those sax lines are more colorful than ever, overpowering the other rhythms and melodies of Dave, Carter, Boyd, Stefan, and Tim. I will miss him terribly on stage and in future albums. May he rest in peace.

Forgive me reader for it has been quite some time since my last blogfession. Boston has just won the World Series. I like what Andy Rooney said on 60 Minutes today about the Series, “Why is it called the World Series when most of the world can’t tell the difference between Baseball and Ping Pong?”
To Matt, who has an RSS feed so he’ll check the blog a few minutes or hours after posting… Hi Okie! Thanks for letting us crash at your place last night.
Hope everyone has a happy Halloween and don’t take candy from strangers…especially if you go to one of Lisa’s patients houses where they hand out last years candy to overage trick-or-treaters and save the fresh yogurt-covered almonds, candy corn, and Hershey’s Kisses for the little ones.
Boo!
The Techiest thing I’ve ever done…

Future topics may include, but are not limited to: Our trip to Hawaii with a gaggle of Brandys, our *Awesome* softball team (Victorious Secret), Grad school visits (yup, Chris was accepted into Sac state!), our globetrotting (glamerous Stockton, sunny Pasadena, Chris gone camping…) and any other random thoughts and updates!
Thanks for stopping by!

First of all, I would like to thank the best man, Matt, for doing some computer stuff and setting up this blog for us. We will enjoy the opportunity to share our lives with those near and far.
I read on the internet the other day (so it must be true) that by the year 2010, at least half of the work force in developed nations will conduct their work on computers. This means that more and more of you will be able to read up on what’s happening with The Hocketts while at work. I must caution you, however, that looking at such material while at the work place may be grounds for disciplinary action, so may I suggest that you become familiar with the Alt + Tab functionality of your Microsoft Operating System or the prowess of the infamous Alt + F4. One must be weary though, I’ve heard rumors that upper management has become aware of such fast keystrokes upon entering a subordinates work chambers, so tap lightly my friends and we’ll do the same.
So with this entry, we welcome everyone into our little web portal peek into the lives of The Hocketts. Enjoy.
