We’re running in a 10K tomorrow. For all those who aren’t familiar with the metric (better) system it’s supposed to be 6.1 miles. I say “supposed” because it isn’t actually a 10K at all, it’s more like a 9 point something K. You see, apparently the people in charge of deciding on how long the race should be (Santa Cruzianitonians) decided to throw out this SI system mumbo jumbo and make it a 6 mile race instead. The race is called the “Wharf to Wharf, Santa Cruz to Capitola”. There will be Lisa and I and 13,998 other competitors. I’m shooting to place in the top 10,000. We’ll see how we do. I’m looking forward to seeing the Kenyans jogging back to the starting line while we pass mile 3. I’ve been preparing for this race the whole day. My carbo loading has consisted of Honey Nut Cheerios, a Whopper value meal, Doritos, and polenta from tonight’s dinner. Extreme!
The run-around.
